Hotel Palace

At the end of summer, we completed a beautiful roofing project for the Palace Hotel in Špindlerův Mlýn. It is a roof structure combining segmented arched mansard trusses made of S4S timber and a classic framework of glued laminated timber beams. The segments of the upper chords of the trusses and the arched rafters of the ridge are milled on a CNC machine by Hundegger into an exact arched shape according to the original roof structure. Once all elements of the roof structure are assembled onto the ceiling panels across two levels, the desired bell-shaped form is achieved. In numbers, this involves 259 trusses assembled from a total of 2338 individual cut pieces with a total volume of 20 m3 and 438 elements of the classic framework with a volume of 22 m3. The hotel is being reconstructed according to its original architectural appearance on the southwest slope of Špindlerův Mlýn and can be observed from the main road since the Labská reservoir.
